Bearcats stay unbeaten in PBC, Pederson earns 300th win at Lander

The Lander women's basketball team outscored Flagler by 19 in the second half, led by 15 points from Tabitha Dailey, as the Bearcats earned a 89-72 victory over the Saints on Wednesday night. 

Lander (14-3, 9-0 PBC) earned its 10th consecutive win while Kevin Pederson notched his 300th victory as head coach of the Bearcats. Flagler (4-11, 2-7 PBC) fell to 1-10 in its last 11 meetings against Lander.

Dailey scores 22 as Lander beats Clayton State for ninth consecutive win

The Lander women's basketball team rode Tabitha Dailey's 22 points and Makaila Cange's double-double as the Bearcats extended their winning streak to nine with an 84-62 victory over Peach Belt Conference rival Clayton State Monday afternoon on Martin Luther King Day at Horne Arena.

The Bearcats improved to 13-3 overall while leading the PBC at 8-0. Lander matched its best start in Peach Belt Conference play since 2014-15.

Clayton State suffered its 10th consecutive loss to the Bearcats, falling to 9-7 overall and 5-3 in the conference.

Robinson, Alston combine for nine 3-pointers as Lander beats Clayton State

The Lander men's basketball team made 3-pointers on four consecutive possessions in the second half as the Bearcats pulled away from Peach Belt Conference rival Clayton State 92-77 Monday afternoon on Martin Luther King Day at Horne Arena.

Lander improved to 12-4 overall and 6-2 in the Peach Belt. The Lakers fell to 3-12, 1-7.

"I always thought our offense would be pretty good," said head coach Drew Richards. "We've got to find five guys that are willing to guard and if we can find those guys and have the offensive output that we've been having, we could be special."

Chris Liner Named as New GHS Head Football Coach

Chris Liner has been named as Head Football Coach at Greenwood High School. Liner has served since 2014 in the same role at Laurens High School in Laurens, SC. Prior to moving to Laurens, Liner served as Head Football Coach at Ninety Six High School from 2008-2014.

Thomas DuBose Named as New EHS Head Football Coach

Thomas DuBose has been named as Head Football Coach at Emerald High School. DuBose has served as the defensive coordinator for Abbeville High School’s Varsity Football team since 2004. In 2007, DuBose was named Abbeville High School’s Athletic Director.

Harlem Globetrotters wow fans at Lander's Bearcat Stadium
Holding a spinning basketball with the world-famous Harlem Globetrotters, these youth capture the spotlight inside Finis Horne Arena on January 7.  Nearly 1,300 fans showed up for the basketball show, which was held on the campus of Lander University.  The Globetrotters wowed the crowd with their dazzling talent and comical antics, creating a fun night for fans of all ages.

Lander's Bolton named United Soccer Coaches All-Southeast Region selection

 Lander men's soccer forward Max Bolton was named a United Soccer Coaches All-Southeast Region third-team selection, the organization announced Monday.

Bolton led the Lander offense with 11 goals, 27 points, and five game-winners. The freshman from Brentwood, England, ranked 11th nationally in game-winning goals and was the PBC co-Freshman of the Year, along with earning second team all-PBC honors. Bolton was the fourth Lander player to be named a PBC Freshman of the Year in the last six seasons. 

Eleven different Bearcats have earned all-Southeast Region honors from the organization over the past five seasons. The teams were selected through voting by member coaches in those respective divisions.

Harlem Globetrotters "Pushing the Limits" in Greenwood during 2020 world tour

The world-famous Harlem Globetrotters will bring their new "Pushing the Limits" World Tour to Greenwood at Finis Horne Arena on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2020 at 7:00 p.m.  Globetrotters' fans will experience even bigger moments and memories, including a live world record attempt at each game. 

"Lander University and Lander Athletics are thrilled to welcome the world-famous Harlem Globetrotters to campus" says Lander athletic director Brian Reese. "Bringing this caliber of entertainment to the Lakelands region with such long-standing tradition as the Harlem Globetrotters is truly exciting for Lander University"
